November Update
We've had a very busy month. Madeline got baptized and looked so sweet in her white gown. Thank you Ellen for letting us borrow it!
Madeline enjoyed her first Thanksgiving - look how happy she is with her grandmothers!
She also loves the Christmas tree! Yes, there are ornaments on it now but it was her bedtime before we could finish decorating. She just couldn't get enough of the lights!
After all of this fun, she needed a nap - so cute!

Halloween
Madeline dressed up as a pumpkin and helped me hand out candy this Halloween. Isn't she cute!
Grandma and Grandpa Kacher took care of Madeline while John and I went to a wedding. We had a great time ,and it looks like they did too! You can see the beautiful bracelet Grandma Kacher gave her - she was born to wear jewelry!

One small step for a man...
Jessica and I put Madeline on the floor on her stomach and turned to look at the computer. When we turned around she was on her back! The next time we caught it on video tape.

big stuff
Baby Madeline had her 1st doctor's visit on Wednesday last week. The doctor said that everything was fine and that she's "perfect". She is gaining weight and all her reflexes are normal. She did not even cry...
[Madeline sleeping with her arms up - so happy to be free!]
But then on Saturday we had some trouble. She was throwing up all her meals and a few hours later was having some difficulty breathing. Turns out there was a big air bubble in her intestines that made her stomach distended, which is why she was having trouble breathing.
Thank you aunt Jennifer for driving us to the emergency room!!

Everything is fine now, and we are having family movie night. But it was scary, Jessica may not leave her side for a bit to make sure she's breathing well.

Eat, sleep, and poo
...are all the "tricks" Madeline does right now. She's eating well, and is better sticking to a schedule of feeding every 3 hours. After eating she's so sleepy she goes into a "milk coma". This morning Jessica used the opportunity to file down Madeline's nails a bit.

Hello World!
Madeline is now eating on a (somewhat) regular schedule. We have had many visitors and the room at the hospital looks like a floral shop.
Today Jessica will be discharged and we get to take Madeline home. I'm really excited to have the comfort of our house.

The big day!
[Jessica with Madeline's luggage]
At her last appointment on Monday, the baby had not dropped and Jessica was not dilated at all. So the doctor decided it was time for a C-section, as she was at 39 weeks. Today was the big day. We arrived around 10 in the morning and had the baby at 12:38.
Madeline has good color, and 10 fingers and 10 toes. We are elated!
Madeline weighs 5 pounds 15 ounces, and is 18.5 inches long.
